iPhone 4 Drops Calls when Left Corner is Touched

This is weird. Touching the lower left corner of the iPhone 4 consistently drops calls. I’ve been testing this all night and here’s a replication on video. The test was performed four times, but it could have been 40. Whether the palm of the and, should, neck, or any body part results in quickly dropping the call. This does not appear to affect the iPhone 3GS, which was tested with the iPhone 4.

the real epic fail is the fact that the apple worshippers will still buy the iphone 4.

@delphis040 The whole point of a phone is that it phones people, if it doesnt do that, then everything else it does doesnt matter! your comment is an epic fail :)

  3. lin2log says:

LOL!!!! WTF!!!! Did you see THE INTITIAL SIGNAL??!! A full ONE BAR!!!

This proves absolutely NOTHING… FULL FAIL. This would happen with ANY of the many many many other phones that have been shown to have the EXACT SAME PROBLEM. And sorry dude, but the antenna in the 3G IS NOT IN THE MIDDLE but AT THE BOTTOM just like the 3GS and 4!

Do your fuckin’ homework BEFORE you put out such complete BULLSHIT.

  4. lin2log says:

“… in my kitchen, where I usually have A PRETTY GOOD SIGNAL”??!

You have ONE BAR to start with and you call that A PRETTY GOOD SIGNAL?? And why not try your “test” with EDGE? Because this is a 3G ONLY problem and I personally near NEVER have 3G even on (for better battery life), so I really don’t give a flying rat’s ass about this whole NON-issue… and yes, I have an iPhone 4 and ZERO problems, sorry!

so Apple made a phone incompatible with hands…great work

  6. mate2000 says:

As we know the signal bar display thing was wrong, giving you more bars when it should have given you less. So you start with one or two bars on the iPhone 4, and knowing that the algorithm was off, you basically had near-zero bars. This means that even the slightest touch would make the call drop. Try demonstrating this in an area with good signal, and also try doing the same with the iPhone 3GS, try to find it’s weak spot.

i have a 3gs. i did the death grip, same left hand etc, and i loose 1 bar. ok, not much to moan about and im not, but it shows that its nothing new to apple phones. and in case u wonder, i did it on my friends 3g too. same effect, signal got worse, but not dropped

  9. wriggly40 says:

update. i have perfected my left hand hold on my 3gs, and a 3g, and can now get it to loose all but 1 bars of sygnal.. ok, nothing to boast of, but hey! im adding here :) lol.

i must say tho, ive always been pretty impressed and still am with my 3gs, and it took me a while to get the death grip effect. its not something i will reproduce in real life

i think the problem is with AT&T because wen you serach iphone 4 no signal problem…all of the users not havin a problem are from the UK..not AT&T…so i think its AT&T the problem

  21. MrJayzoo says:

@officialdrpapi im from england and i have problems with my signal

  22. docsharp00 says:

why every test videos show like “look I take this other smart phone and ….-2 sec after- no problem! (and they put it back on the table after only 2 sec holding) now I take the Iphone 4 and look – waiting 30sec – now we have the problem!!!”
please also if I know that their is really this problem, the way that you show the test doesn’t make it credible. please make reliable tests. if you hold the Iphone 4 for 30sec, do the same with the others.

  23. jocxz says:

touching that lightly in my country is giving permission for someone to steal it.. so epic fail!

  24. bigjonnyjon says:

Apple has indicated that this is not a long-term solution, it has guaranteed the offer only through September 30th, and has not extended it unequivocally to customers who bought cases from third-party vendors. We look forward to a long-term fix from Apple. As things currently stand, the iPhone 4 is still not one of our Recommended models
