FAN BOY ALERT,,,,,ive used yons of smart phones….Apple just made a poor design choice….i would tell you this I have an HTC touch pro 2, and 1, and an HTC EVO….oh and a blackberry 8350i and i cant even make it loose signal

  2. chaz4510 says:

If you don’t like your iphone 4 or it doesn’t work then send it back. End of! What more is there to say?

  3. Zombiebrainstew says:

@thebsdguy Solid advice. I did get an iPhone 4 and haven’t had any issues with it. I bought I case to protect it but without a case doesn’t make the phone useless as some people are saying. But how is that evo? I was looking at one the other day awesome phone. But I still liked the iPhone 4 better because of all my apps and iTunes music from my 3GS. But that evo was sick.

  4. thebsdguy says:

@Zombiebrainstew My Evo’s awesome, but I will admit that the Apple mobile ecosystem is more polished than Google’s. The plethora of Android devices causes segmentation.

The Evo has had its share of complaints – touchscreen issues, low battery life – but the first one is easy to mitigate, and it’s pretty easy to get good battery life out of the Evo, short of buying an extended battery.

They do have 2 phones. The 3GS is still one of the best smartphones out there. If not the best one, excluding not having 2 cameras, retina display, etc. iOS4 runs amazing on my 3GS and I will no upgrade until iPhone 5.

  6. AppleGnome says:

I tried it with my brothers new iPhone and it doesn’t have the problem.

  7. mrgreek2002 says:

My iPhone 4 does not only not have this issue, in fact it has absolutely ZERO issues!

  8. iDiggMGL says:

@jathomas0910 I’ve the BlackBerry Storm 1 and 2, BlackBerry Tour, HTC G1, Palm Pre, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4. The signal goes down on all of these phones when gripping them to make a call. It all depends on your location. Oh, yah, and my BlackBerry Pearl Flip also lost signal when gripping it to make a call.

  9. jathomas0910 says:

    @iDiggMGL I feel you bro

  10. iDiggMGL says:

I tried everything Apple said and it’s true. I have 4 BlackBerry phones (Storm 1, Storm 2, Tour, Pearl Flip) and all of them lose signal when you grip them. It’s such a shame that these companies think they’re better than what Apple claims. I love BlackBerry smartphones, but they aren’t anything special, antenna wise. Underneath, they have the same ‘issue’ iPhones have. I don’t even call them issues, it’s just what naturally happens.

@mrgreek2002 well ur very lucky ive had 2 of them all ready and im tired of it so i returned it and got a blackberry 9700 and i love it :)

  12. Greeniemaxx says:

@1liam192 I agree with you on that one, the friends I have who are sending me all the emails telling me about the problems on iPhone are actually those who have never owned an iPhone let alone iPhone 4.

  13. rsherfan says:

you know whats funny… when i’m watching my digital TV – bought an internal room antenna, and the signal is pretty good, but when it does glitch, I go up to the antenna and I *hold* it, and it actually improves the signal strength (LOL). the irony…

that being said I hope that Apple not only eat humble pie but take it in stride, because the last thing we need is the largest IT company being seen as arrogant, no matter how big or small the actual issue is. cheers.

  14. thebsdguy says:

@rsherfan apple isn’t the largest IT company?

as far as revenue, it’s HP. as far as employees, IBM.

  15. Zero2790 says:

i have ipod touch 2g 8gb 3.1.3. And is jailbroken with spirit. And if i update it to 4.0 will it still be jailbroken? and still have all my apps?

  16. Everything4Tech says:

    @Zero2790 FAIL

  17. guitarbass95 says:

    lol, dave pronounced it “nockia”

  18. cesarneri3 says:

I suspect Iphone fans didn’t really bought the device so much as to call as to show it off. LOL

  19. rsherfan says:

@thebsdguy I see your point. Marketcap isn’t the be all and end all of a company, but suffice to say that when Apple’s marketcap overtook Microsofts the media made a big deal out of it. They have the unofficial title of world’s largest tech company… wrightly or wrongly.

  20. thebsdguy says:

@rsherfan world’s most valuable, but not largest.

  21. CapitalGamer says:

@thebsdguy Market capital; it’s bigger than Microsoft.

  22. thebsdguy says:

@CapitalGamer Market cap does not mean a thing. Are you trying to say they’re bigger than any financial or insurance firm? Bigger than the oil companies, or bigger than IBM, HP, or Microsoft? They’re not.

Market cap is the sum value of all shares outstanding. Microsoft still has more revenue, net income and a LOT more cash flow.

I’m not anti-Apple, but market cap is a very poor way of measuring a company’s size.

  23. CapitalGamer says:

@thebsdguy I was just stating a method of measuring their magnitude. Yes your right, it changes all the time. But for a company that almost went bankrupt in the 90s, it’s impressive. Plus to surpass Microsoft, is definitely a milestone.

  24. xian678 says:

I think that apple is handling the issue very well, the media has beefed up this tiny problem way too much. Apple held this conference and made videos of the deathgrip on other smartphones to show that even older and newer phones have this problem. If you dont like the iphone dont buy it or just bring it back.

  25. Bogota89 says:

@Zombiebrainstew I really agree with you. My question is who the hell holds their phone like they way they hold the iPhone 4 to lose the signal. They hold the iPhone like they were choking the poor phone. I don’t have an iPhone 4 yet, but Im just in the dilemma of buying the black or waiting for the white lol
