Otterbox has reissued their line of cases to accommodate the new iPhone 4S. The cases are now compatible with both AT&T and Verizon iPhone 4 in addition to the iPhone 4S. It appears Otterbox has made a few changes to the case since IGM last reviewed. These changes beyond slight tweaks needed for the iPhone 4S controls. The camera cutout is now much larger and a full oval vs sort of a keyhole cutout. Also the area around the earpiece is now a large cutout rather than individual sections for the front camera, sensors and ear piece. Other than that, the case seems the same basic concept of multi-layer protection. The first layer is a hardshell surrounded by a rubber skin. During our iPhone 4S teardown, iFixit buddy Markus noted that the new iPhone had a rather unusual-looking black component next to the ambient light sensor. We didn’t make much of a fuss about it at the time since we were knee-deep in disassembly pictures, but the little black box certainly piqued our curiosity. Now that the teardown is wrapped up, we’ve re-opened the mystery and made a neat discovery about the 4S: that black component is an infrared LED, and the little bugger almost always wants to know if you’re nearby. HTC EVO 3D Hardware Review

bit.ly The biggest selling feature is of course the no glasses 3D screen and even with the 3D turned off the screen is still impressive. The 4.3 inch qHD LCD is behind a glass capacitive multi-touch digitizer. Giving life to the EVO 3D is a 1.2 GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor that HTC has combined with a capacious 1GB of RAM. The internal ROM is 4GB and the auxiliary memory comes from the 8GB microSD card which is expandable up to 32GB. Combined to make the EVO 3D truly 3D is the dual 5MP cameras on the rear with dual LED flash, capturing 3D still at 2MP resolution and 3D video at 720p HD. The front facing camera is able to capture video and still up to 1.3MP. The battery is a 1730mAh lithium-ion which Sprint states will provide up to 6 hours of talk time.

In terms of price, the iPhone 4 is currently a much better value: it’s priced at 0 and 0 for 16GB and 32GB versions, respectively. The Galaxy S 2 costs over 0 unlocked right now, but is likely to come down in price once it’s available on a carrier. In terms of build quality, the iPhone 4 is superior because it makes use of metal and glass, while the Galaxy S 2 is plastic and glass. Both have a high quality feel in-hand. The screen of the Galaxy S 2 provides better contrast, but not as good of a viewing angle as the iPhone 4. We also found colors to be a bit more natural on the iPhone 4. In terms of web browsing speed, it’s no contest: the dual 1.2GHz Exynos CPU and the 1GB of RAM makes the Galaxy S 2 very quick when browsing the web.
